2016 Arts Congress Keynotes Available Online
Couldn’t make the 2016 Arts Congress? Listen to the keynote speakers including Simon Brault, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts; John Holden, cultural expert from the UK who has written extensively on the value of culture and its relationship to society; and Tracey Lindberg, award-winning academic writer and teacher of Indigenous studies and law as well as the author of Birdie recently shortlisted for Canada Reads. OSAC Is Hiring: Apply Now
OSAC is looking for a Visual & Media Arts Assistant Coordinator – click here to view the job description. Starting in late August OSAC will be moving the Assistant position to a five-day week Full Time position. Application deadline is Monday, June 20th.
Registration Now Open For Film Camp 2016
Calling young filmmakers! The Filmpool is now accepting registrations for our annual Summer Film Camp July 11 – 15. In just one week, participants (ages 13-17) learn how to create stories visually, using a variety of film and video equipment. Participants shoot and edit all week long; trying out different crew positions and working together to create a bunch of amazing short films. At the end of the week the students invite family and friends to their cinematic debut on the big screen at the RPL Film Theatre. Get the full details here. Art Gallery of Regina Celebrates 40 Years
The Art Gallery of Regina will be holding its annual fundraising gala on Saturday, June 25th celebrating the Fine Art of Food. The theme this year is Ruby – the colour, the attitude, and to mark the AGR’s 40th anniversary. Some of Regina’s premier chefs will be presenting sensational culinary creations as they compete for the gallery’s annual Red Plate Awards. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door available at the Gallery or online at www.artgalleryofregina.ca.
Make Your Voice Heard: The Canada Council for the Arts Survey
Fill out the Canada Council for the Arts’ survey, Arts in a Digital World. The feedback received from artists and arts organizations across the country will be used to inform the Council’s digital strategy. The survey is accessible here until June 24th, 2016.
Design Regina: The Official Community Plan
Regina’s Official Community Plan (OCP), entitled Design Regina, is a long-term plan that provides direction for managing future growth, development and change in the community to a future population of 300,000 residents and beyond. The OCP contains a comprehensive policy framework that will guide the physical, environmental, economic, social and cultural development. Design Regina has formed the basis of the City’s strategic and business planning for the next four years, building the foundation for long term implementation. RRLIP: Request for Proposal
The Regina Region Local Immigration Partnership (RRLIP) is seeking proposals from a professional research consultant(s) to conduct community-based research. The consultant will provide research that supports the execution of the Strategic Plan for the RRLIP. For more information.
Cultural Revolution: ‘Art’ Gets Its Own Web Domain
The internet is about to get a bit more crowded (and cultural) with the introduction of a new .art domain dedicated to the creative industry.
UK Creative Ideas Limited (UKCI) signed an agreement with ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, in late March, to launch and be the exclusive operator of the new .ART top-level domain (TLD). Launching in late autumn 2016, .ART is new, undeveloped Internet real estate dedicated to serving the arts and culture communities by providing the infrastructure to enhance and preserve the art industry’s online presence.
