Connecting Classroom Music Directly to Advocacy

Music Education Day 2026 bridges the gap between everyday classroom learning and provincial advocacy. Whether you are looking for impactful Truth and Reconciliation resources, physical instrument sets for your students, or tools to engage parents and school division leadership, SMEA and SAA are here to support you.

Advocacy Begins With You We encourage you to reach out to your MLAs, Board Trustees, and School Community Councils. Our goal is to ensure that decision-makers recognize music as a core pillar of the Saskatchewan curriculum.

The Standard: Under the K–8 Core Curriculum, Arts Education requires 200 minutes of weekly instruction, with 50 minutes specifically dedicated to Music.

The Mission: We advocate for equipped and supported staff at every level. While we champion the hiring of Music Specialists—particularly for the specialized needs of older grades—we are committed to supporting every educator tasked with bringing music to students.

Art Works – On the Boards Staging Company

For over 20 years, the company has provided expertise and resources in the technical and administrative areas of production to help hundreds of independent artists and performer-producers stage their art. During the pandemic, however, cancellations have been the norm, and the Refinery space has been almost empty. Gallant-Morari’s concert had been cancelled twice before they finally pulled it off.
