SAA Introduces 2004/05 Board of Directors

On September 25, members and guests of the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance met to discuss current arts issues and elect members to the Board of Directors.

Well-known Saskatoon musician, Skip Kutz is the newly elected President. Noting that Saskatchewan artists are among the best, Kutz remarked, “I look forward to working with my colleagues and government to bring to fruition initiatives begun several years ago. We need to make sure that our artists and arts organizations are able to maintain their practise here in Saskatchewan. A strong provincial arts sector benefits everyone.”

Other directors newly elected to the board are Cynthia Dyck, Saskatoon-based actor; writer Don Kerr who also lives in Saskatoon; and Regina resident Andrew North, Production Manager at Globe Theatre.

Kim Houghtaling who fills the position of Vice-President, returns to the Board for a second term. Houghtaling is a sculptor and Director and Curator of the Art Gallery of Swift Current.

Lori Green, Executive Director of Saskatchewan Society for Education Through Art will remain on the Board as Past President.

Also remaining on the Board to complete their terms are Marnie Badham (Treasurer) artist, social activist and General Manager of Common Weal Community Arts; Jill Reid (Secretary) Executive Director of Dance Saskatchewan Inc.; and visual artist Christie Saas.
