SAA Introduces New Board of Directors

The Saskatchewan Arts Alliance (SAA) is pleased to introduce its 2015/2016 Board of Directors.

Kelley Jo Burke, an award-winning playwright, director, storyteller, CBC documentarian and broadcaster, is elected to the position of President. Burke is excited to continue as SAA President: “Here in Saskatchewan, the arts are everywhere and the arts matter; we know from our research and experiences. There can be no question–art works, art workers, and arts programming benefit individuals and communities–making us more creative, innovative, inclusive, healthy, and in fact more prosperous. Here at the SAA we work diligently not just to support the arts in Saskatchewan, but to celebrate its concrete and all-pervasive value –because it's more than just our hashtag–#ArtsEverywhere– it’s true!”

Directors newly elected to the Board are nationally-known actor, director and fight choreographer Kent Allan;  James Hodges, President of Roadside Attractions Inc., and independent producer of theatre, dance and music; SaskMusic’s Kaelen Klypak, musician, manager, production manager, promoter, and music publisher; Dr. Kathryn Ricketts, dance artist, educator, and Assistant Professor in Arts Education at the University of Regina.

Re-elected to the Board are professional musician Shelley Ewing; Marcus Miller, curator, writer and Director of the Snelgrove Gallery; and Yvette Nolan, playwright, dramaturge and director.

Remaining on the Board are Tarin Hughes, educator, community curator, and Executive Director of AKA Artist-Run; and Heather Ritenburg, choreographer, performer, and educator.
