The SAA is excited to partner with Ivy + Dean Consulting to present a special arts-focused Non-Profit Book Club session on Modern Grantmaking: A Guide for Funders Who Believe Better is Possible.

This five week series of bi-weekly sessions will include two distinct cohorts—one for Saskatchewan artists and arts administrators, and one for local funders. Each cohort will engage in reading and group reflection, asking: What resonates? What falls flat? What do you wish local grant makers were doing or if you are a funder – What do you wish your organization was doing?

This program aims to provide necessary space to reflect, share struggles and successes, and build a network of diverse arts and funding sector peers. At the culmination of this five week series, select participants will contribute to a Modern Grantmaking Panel bringing together the arts and funder cohorts for a lively public discussion.

*This program is free for both funders and SAA Members!

About the Book

Modern Grantmaking: A Guide for Funders Who Believe Better is Possible is “for anyone employed in the curious world of grantmaking, whether you work for a private foundation, a government funder, or a corporate donor.” Gemma Bull and Tom Steinberg believe “every grantmaker can and should be a reformer too,” and their book delves into how to disrupt traditional granting practices and adopt more progressive approaches. While it’s written for funders, we loved learning more about what institutions across the globe are doing to make things simpler for those seeking funding.
