Harmonizing for 2026-27: Let’s Advocate!
As school divisions begin the complex task of staffing and budgeting for the 2026-27 school year, we have an important story to tell. Whether music is delivered by a dedicated Specialist or a passionate Classroom Generalist, every teacher deserves the tools and support to make music happen.
Advocacy Begins With You We encourage you to reach out to your MLAs, Board Trustees, and School Community Councils. Our goal is to ensure that decision-makers recognize music as a core pillar of the Saskatchewan curriculum.
- The Standard: Under the K–8 Core Curriculum, Arts Education requires 200 minutes of weekly instruction, with 50 minutes specifically dedicated to Music.
- The Mission: We advocate for equipped and supported staff at every level. While we champion the hiring of Music Specialists—particularly for the specialized needs of older grades—we are committed to supporting every educator tasked with bringing music to students.
