Joint Letter from Regina’s Cultural and Community Organizations to City Council
Joint Letter from Regina’s Cultural and Community Organizations to City Council
Regina’s arts, culture, and community organizations have come together in response to the proposed cuts to the Community Investments Grant Program (CIGP) in the City of Regina’s 2025–2027 budget.
The CIGP has been a vital source of stability for organizations that provide artistic programs, cultural experiences, neighbourhood events, festivals, youth engagement, newcomer supports, Indigenous cultural work, and many of the activities that shape daily life in Regina. While our sector has been underfunded for years, we continue to serve thousands of residents and contribute significant social, cultural, and economic value across the city.
When news of the proposed cuts surfaced, organizations spoke with one another, shared concerns, and agreed that it was important to respond collectively and transparently. The letter below reflects our gratitude for the City’s past investment, our accountability to the community, and our shared hope that Regina continues to be a place where culture, creativity, and belonging are supported.
Over 15 organizations have signed on, with more joining each day. Their names appear at the bottom of the letter. If your organization would like to add its name, you can do so here.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, care, and clarity to this shared effort.
