AMIS was established in 1995 by entertainment and fashion industry professionals who were disturbed by the exploitation of the public by unscrupulous agencies. AMIS has been supported financially by the professional associations within the entertainment industry, including ACTRA, Theatre Ontario, the Casting Directors Society of Canada, the Talent Agents and Managers Association of Canada, Canadian Actors Equity Association, Union des Artistes and the Toronto Association of Acting Studios.
